Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
Evening Guys
The newish Coopers on my Patrol are really really noisy.
My tyre pressures are around 2,2.
Will deflating/inflating the things help to shut them up a bit??
Or do I
1) Pray for them to wear out very quickly
2) Pray for the next pickup/SUV that has worn out 16' tyres and pass these lawaaigatte on to the next hapless Victim??

They get louder and louder as they wear down so get comfortable with it Knobbly tyres are only quiet for the first few 100 km

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
I could live with the normal road noise they make, but two of my Coopers have developed a serioursly irritating "wop wop wop". Moved the first one to the spare and now another one started doing the same

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
Running them lower seems to help, I also rotate them every 5000km

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
Had them rotated this morning, dunno if it really helped, but they're still noisy.
Will deflate them a bit, say to 2 bar or so.
Then I guess its just a question of live with it, till the 1st oppurtunity comes along to put on another 16' rim, and get quieter tyres for Olive.

Daai goed gaan jou 80k plus gee. Raak maar gewoond aan dit. Myne het erg gechunk wat dit nog erger gemaak het. Baie ouens is gelukkig met hulle, maar dit het nie vir my gewerk nie.

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
Folowing advise, I inflated them to 2,8 (eina!!) bar, MUCCH quieter now, like in almost silent. Harsher ride, too.
Nice tyres, nice offroad tyre (the bit I used them), but I dunno if I will get them again.

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol
Maybe next time try the Kumho MT51 muddies. I put a set on in December, and was really pleasantly surprised on how quiet they were in comparison to the Kumho KL71's. Haven't done many km's since December, but from what I've read they are pretty damn good further down the road. The price was also pretty damn good considering other better known name brands with similar/same sidewall protection.
Regards
Cedric
