Rims 16" and 17"
My Patrol has 16' rims on it - what 17" rims would fit it - any Nissan 17" or are they Patrol specific??
I am toying with perhaps changing to the 17"rims.
Thanks Rob

Re: Rims 16" and 17"
You'll need a rim with a center bore of 110mm & 8j is generally accepted as best.

Why would you want to change to 17" rims?

Re: Rims 16" and 17"
They are all basically the same, their spigot hole is 110mm with a 139.4 (generally called 140) PCD with 6 studs. Just their widths and offsets differ, depending on the rim manufacture. It is actually up to what you prefer. You can basically use any 139.4 six hole rim (Ford, Mazda, Toyota, Isuzu, Colt) and have the centres machined open from 108mm to 110mm and have the inner of the spigot hole shamfered, and it will work. On fifteens you will however need a rim with a big enough negative offset for the rim to miss the tie-rod ends.
I had a 1984 Safari and also a 1995 GQ, and the 7j x15 wheels that I used on that (I had their centres opened up) were from a Colt Extreme. They also fit on the Y61 Facelift 2008 Patrol 3.0 Di that I have now. I run those 7j x15s on my trailer currently, and they can be used as spares on my Patrol when I tow with my Y61 when further north in Africa.
I also had a set of 10J x 15" rims that I ran on both the Safari & the GQ.
I bought a set of five aftermarket 9j x 17" rims and opened up their centres for my All Terrains and run the standard 8j x 17" GRX rims for my road tyres on my current Y61, which had the original GL 8j x 16" steelies when I bought it.
If in doubt, if you ever are in Jhb, you can come here to my place and try each of the 3 types of rims I have here at my place.

Re: Rims 16" and 17"
Quite correct. It actually is 114.3mm or something. The correct measurement is in reality 4 and a half inches, same as Jeep (Jeep has 5 studs though) and the Patrol and all the other Japanese have a PCD of 5 and a half inches (139.7mm) and 6 studs.
Actually, for a country like Japan that changed to the metric system so many years ago and that has all their vehicle nuts and bolts in metric sizes and metric threads, it is a bit odd to still have their rim PCD and spigot hole in Imperial sizes. The spigot hole is 108mm or 4 and a quarter inches (OK, the Patrol's is 110mm) on most Japanese 4x4s.
Odd. Isn't it?
