Right rear window switch faulty - SOLVED

Hello guys

I was hoping to get some insight with regards to my 2005 4.8 grx rear passenger door window switch. The window can only be opened from the drivers window switch pannel as the on on the passenger door has stopped working.

I read on the forum and guys have said that often just a simple clean of the switch can often sort this issue out which brings me to my qustion:

1) How do you access the switch ? Does the trim around the switch clip off and what is the safest way to do this without breaking any of the clips?

I just want to find out if this is something I should be able to do my self at home or do you recommend that I take it to Nissan and risk paying a million rand for a new switch (I doubt they will just clean it out) or does anyone know of a good auto electrition in Durban who has experience with this kind of problem on Patrols?

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday and looking forward to the weekend.

Regards
Craig QQQ

You should be able to do yourself, Nissan will probably just import a part to replace it.

And because picture paints a thousand words ...

You remove the soft part of the arm rest first, unclip it from the rear first, ( grab and pull up or use screw driver to leverage. Undue the screw in the grab handle recess and the pull up, there is a clip on the front that needs to release,

Unclip wire harness , undue screw holding switch. you should then split the switch , If i Rceall there is once clip in each side that you need to press to release it , just take apart carefully, there are 2 tiny balls , clean contacts and re-asemble

The contacts build's up some carbon. Upon up the switch carefully, upside down is preferable. I used contact cleaner to clean the contacts.

SOLVED  !!

The only reason it took me 45 minutes was because I spent 30 minutes trying to find one of those metal balls which went on a grand treck of my lounge floor haha I forgot to take a pic of the switch before I cleaned it but yes the contacts were full of carbon. Good as new now.

But with the instructions here it was a relatively straight forward job which probably saved me R1000 or more and a trip to Nissan so thanks again for all the advice !

Cheers
