Central locking/alarm

Post by tour de frans »

Goeie dag,ek soek raad vir my 4.2 se sluit stelsel.Die ding maak my suur so af en toe.
Het iemand so iets ondervind?
My kar is n 99 GU
Dankie Groete

Dis slegte nuus. Dit doen die selfde as my bleddie FORD. :oldtimer:

Sounds like it might be a dodgy door contact switch (remember about the barn doors at the back too).

Yes,but should the roof ligts give it away on a faulty door switch?Maybe I must try to bypass the switch.

My '95Troll het nie n afstandbeheerde knoppie nie maar ek sit soms met dieselfde probleem as ek met die sleutel oop- of toesluit dat sommige deure nie oop of toesluit nie gewoonlik agter bestuurder en dan ook links voor. Agter drink barn doors nog nooit n probleem gehad nie. I maar check now always if everything is locked wanneer ek die sleutel draai

I have removed my whole immobiliser and central locking from remote harness. Remember that this was fitted aftermarket, and the job was done so poorly, I felt embarrassed to open the console to the right of the accelerator pedal. I went and drove like a doos and got stuck in the river, with water gushing into the car. I was at an angle to the right, and the water washed over the cover next to the accelerator.

I was recovered rather speedily and had problems with my immobiliser since then. On closer inspection, I determined that the control box for the central locking, alarm and immobiliser got wet. It is placed at an extremely bad place, and the workmanship was horrendous. I cleaned the unit with electrical component cleaner, but there had been a short on the pc board. The effect was that the doors kept opening and closing by themselves. A match stick in the door locker button sorted that out. I then got a 2nd pc board from a car and radio sound shop for R400 bucks. A new one goes for R2000.

This worked well until the next trip to the river. So I decided to remove it completely. Now it works with the key, turn left and right and good bye. The problem can be either moisture in the unit, causing short. Or loose wiring or faulty earth wire somewhere. There a couple of relays that has been inter connected and the whole installation is sommer backyard mechanic. .

I remember that my Ptrl opened the driver's door on the first press of the button, and then the rest at the second press. I removed the installation, because in the wild, you cannot afford to have electrical problems, or a wet remote or flat remote batteries.

It will be worth it to open the panel next to your right foot and try to unravel what goes where. Also have a look at the control box. There are a whole bundle of wires that go into a black box, about 70mm x 70mm x 25mm thick.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
