I am very happy I came across this thread...
I've been confounded. After getting the Patrol in January, I gathered the "dummy lights" on the right hand side worked, but not the left. I was not aware they were dummies...
I removed the light fitting over the weekend. I swore a little at the previous owner having messed up the internals of the rear lights (the holes where the lamps were put in are relatively neatly done, but definitely not factory-moulded - I was trying to understand why he'd messed the bits up).
I muttered about his mucking around with the original harness etc. Could not work out exactly what the reasons for the things were. Just noticed home-made connectors and so-on and so-forth. The only lamp which appeared properly connected (and the moutning hole "factory moulded") was the reverse light...
This morning I came across this thread... Everything now makes sense... All is right in the world.
Over the weekend, I'll sort out the lights, connectors etc and have everything ship-shape.
Thanks folks.
Ian

Good stuff!
I did mine and hardly ever had to look back, but when I did I had more reverse light power!
I also put in a reverse warning sensor and now never have to look back.....

Re: Mutter, mutter...dummy tail lights
Well I am looking to upgrade my Patrol's rear end soon and would like to get my dummy lights working as well.
I would have just modded my original lights, but they are in bad shape and will need to get replacement ones.
Where can I find the import ones with orange indicators and at what price? Not sure if Graham still brings them in?
What other options are there?

Re: Mutter, mutter...dummy tail lights
Hi Michael
We still do get the other light lenses in but only for the smaller lenses. Currently can't get the long lenses for the newer models.
For the shorter lenses, cost is R2950 per set.
Thanks
Vanessa

What is the differance between the long and the smaller lenses?

I think what is meant is....
The face-lift models after 2006 have the larger (longer) lenses.
The pre-face-lift models (like yours) have the smaller lenses.
