GQ Spring Length

Post by davidvdm »

Calling the GQ guys for some info please. I was donated a set of standard GQ coils for my SFA build by Offroadbiker. Now the Sani weighs 1100Kg's on the front end. How does that compare to the GQ?

My big issue, I have very little means to lift the Sani up on the springs to check what the compressed measurement of the springs are going to be. I have two weeks before I move to CT, and was wondering if I could do my coil conversion before I leave. The measurement dictates if the coils are going to fit under the chassis rail, or outbound of the chassis.

If anybody could take the measurement of their coils under compression for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

1260kg, 260mm spring height. Not standard springs, but close to standard ride height I think.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Looks about right. Unloaded its 420, so 260 looks good.

My other option is to make the top bucket adjustable on a rail type setup till I got it pinned down and then just weld when the height is sorted. But I don't like that setup much.

Something like this

No other GQ guys able to give me a compressed coil figure??.

I decided to go ahead with my radias arm build, and was hoping somebody could give me some definite figure by now. I have been busy since Friday, and now at a critical point to fit coil buckets to the chassis. Without the measurement, I kinda now have to wing it, and hope I don't need to cut the bucket back off, and adjust.

Krag het netnou eers weer aangekom, nou is ek nog a dag agter. Ek moet nou wikkel, volgende week ry ons.
