Coil Spring Colour Change

Post by Marino4x4 »

Hi

I am looking for some advice. I would like to change the colour of my coil springs from black to yellow. What will be the best way to do this? I am thinking of using a powder coating place, but will powder coating be able to handle the twist in the coils? Or will 2k paint be better? I would like the coils to match my shocks.

If anyone has done this some advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

What about Hammer Rite tough as hell but I don't know how flexable it would be?

A bit of feedback on my coil springs.

After reading this post:

http://powder365.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3005

I took the coils to be powder coated. It was R640 for the 4 coils. Here are some before and after picks.

I also measured the height of my car before and after. I took the measurement from the top of the rim to the wheel arch. The front left wheel was 380 and it changed to 395. Back left 370 - 370. Back Right 320-345 and front right 370-395. So it was not a major lift, but the car is not leaning to the right as it used to. I think the fitment center that fitted the previous coils did not fit it correctly. They might have switched the left and right coils around. The ride comfort also staid the same, but it is only home and to work. I will have to have a look on a longer trip and off-road.

Looks good :woo:
Wonder why the height is different? Mabe the heating of the coils from the powder coating made them stiffer?

Sorry, forgot to say. The coils I powder coated is 20mm Lift Old Man Emu coils. The ones I had in is 4.8 coils. So it is not the same coils that were in the car. That is the difference in height. I have now 20mm OME from Graham (PathMaker) in and Billstein Shocks. I will see how it goes.

Don't use Hammer Rite.
It is not flexible and will break after a short time.
I used it on the bumber bar, thinking that is needs no fexible paint. But even there it broke.

Hammer Rite in a car -> bullshit :oldtimer:
