Removed this part from steering wheel

Post by Kalahari Safari »

Hi there,
This is for the Patrol GU 1998 GL
I had a rattle in the steering wheel with a metallic sound on bumpy roads.
When removing the airbag I found this metallic piece hanging lose by some remain of a rubber suspension.
I don't know and cannot figure out its function or eason th be there so I removed it and drive without a rattle now again.
Anybody who can guess what this part is all about.

Eisjjjjjjjj Walter -- sorry, no can tell that one .. Maybe a reputable PANEL BEATER or the Agents will know ??
There should be some such in Gabs ??
OR the NISSAN dealer in Zeerust is VERY helpful, not greedy and gives super service .. when you pass Zeerust, ask them ?
[They are in the main street, on the left direction Gauteng]

End of March I drove through a very corrugated road in Venda on our way to Makuya park.
A screw came loose and the hooter started to go off each time I turned the wheel. I took out the fuse to make the hooter stop and had it fixed for free by the Steering Suspension Fitment Centre in Randburg (SSFC). That was because it was a quick fix, but generally otherwise they are not cheap. The guys runnig the shop do lots of 4x4, and have a SA Nationals bakkie too. The one owner also drives a Patrol. if you ever make your way to Jhb, I can recommend them.
