Gents,

Just went through a similar process. My GQ's right rear wheel was getting very hot. More than the right hand side. I changed the discs, pads and found the calipers in order. To my disgust the problem had not gone away. After cleaning the bolts holding the caliper on I found one of them to be catching ever so slightly. Below is a pic. Changed the bolts an bob's your uncle.

Had my left rear calipher seals replaced by mechanic who also srevices most of the farmers around the area , he also recommended that I replace brake pads soon . Seals R46.80 & labour R235 after Nissan quoted me over R 1000 for just the rear seals.

I haven't tried it. Replacing the seal on the brake calipers. I don't think that it is necessary to do so.

Jules, if you did not come right, Bera's motor spares in Alberton stock seals..cost me about R30 or 40 per wheel (95 GQ). Patrols come in single and double piston configuration. I took a sample in & they matched it- been working fine for about 5 years now

You can see from outside Jules. My car has dual pistons on the front wheels and singles on the back, and I think yours is the same?

Hello Gents,

My GQ rear caliphers also got temperamental and on the rear left it bitten eaten the pads and discs this recent trip to Lesotho.

When I overhaul the caliphers, is there anyliterature you can refer me to regarding the sanding of parts and the painting? What paint do I use.

@Grant: if you say the bolt was catching, because the shaft was not smooth anymore?

Regards

Marnus
