I recently had Bilstein B6 Shocks fitted to the Patrol (running on standard 4.8 coils) and I'm spectacularly happy. The car handles and brakes much better. The suspension is quite a bit stiffer than the standard Nissan shocks that was in the vehicle before, but they were CAT5, so I suppose that isn't really a fair comparison.

Anyway, I would strongly recommend them.

Where did you buy them?
I have tried a few times to get quotes from mikem suspension and incomex, but these guys are to busy making money to get back to me.

Fanus, I bought them from Noel (NMAD on the forum) maybe he has a contact where he bought them from?

Thanks Tinus, I hope so - really like them!

If you guys are looking for TOUGH DOG suspension and pretty much anything else nice from OZ, contact Andre Thuynsma (AT.Patrol4.2D on the forum) in PE.
As far as I know he's affiliated with Opposite Lock from OZ.
He's got Tough Dog fully adjustable on his GQ.

Interresting to know....

The tough dog quotes I have received in the past has ruled them out due to price.
Would be nice if he can get them for cheaper.

Guys,

I have TJM which was installed by previous owner and don't know which one it is. I am looking to have a more comfy ride. Mine have a hard ride. I did put in a 50mm Iron-man lift in as it was not done with the TJM install by previous owner?

Question - Which is the best shocks to get for a comfy ride. Occasional off-road and the occasional boat towing?

Thanks

I think you need to go for soft coils and put airbags if you load heavy.....
Coils makes a big difference in ride .

I concur with Tinus

The hard ride which you experience is more likely linked to the coils which you are using.

TJM shocks are known to be rather on the soft side (the closest to OEM / original coils.

4 Examples / with different ride qualities:

Patrol) TJM (gold) combined with Old Man Emu 1 inch spring.
The ride is slightly firmer compared to the factory setup but overall very nice

Patrol) 4.8 coils combined with Rancho Shocks / adjustable (on softest setting) = very nice soft ride (softer than original set-up)

IFS Vehicle) OME Coils and shocks / 2 inch lift / IFS = firm / bumpy ride

IFS Vehicle) OME shocks + Taxi springs / 2 inch lift '= firm / good ride / good control

So.... I would go with Tinus suggestion. Softer coils + airbags in case you want to load the vehicle heavily
