Nikolai, those are not original springs. They are aftermarket springs and are called parabolic springs. With parabolic springs, each leaf's thickness reduces from the middle to the tip instead of achieving a reduction in thickness of the overall pack by sandwiching many leafs of different lengths. The parabolic spring packs always have relatively few leafs and they are spaced away from one another. Parabolic springs have advantages in terms of articulation and ride comfort (by eliminating interleaf friction and by achieving more optimal thickness distribution so that every bit of the spring pack deforms an almost equal amount). One of the most well known manufacturers of aftermarket parabolic springs is Heystee in the Netherlands.

Unfortunately the Heystee website does not show leaf springs for the model 160 Patrol (known as the Nissan Safari in South Africa) :

I am on the trail [tracking] (spoorsny) of two, maybe three manufacturers in South Africa
BUT it would be good to compare the pricing / end cost for us - it may well end up that the import could work out less than the ones in SA - SO Nikolai, kan jy asseblief by die heer Heystee verneem die prys wat hy gaan vra vir 'n stel?

You think there still many people in Africa who use them/would like to use them???

This thread came to an abrupt end. So what ever happened with regards to suppliers of parabolic springs?
