Fender flares/mud flaps or not???

Hi all,

Please help with some opinions.
One of the rear mudflaps broke. Here are some pics.

so now the questions are;
1. are there any mudflaps lying around I can buy to replace the broken one?
2. do I just remove the lot- flares and flaps? (pic 3)

As this is a old vehicle and 2nd hand spares are scarce, what are my options?

The mudflaps helps with stones on trailers ect I am sure nissan sould have one

Conveyor belting !!!!.... I want to do that with mine. I also want to get some 2mm thick rubber matting for the sides of the wheel arch opening into the engine bay

My thinking here is, if I can't find an original, to remove the flares as well and only fit conveyor belting, because keeping the fender flares on its own will look really dof. Trying to fit conveyor belting with the flares will also look a bit stoopid as these are moulded and the conveyor won't fit in there very well. So then rather remove the lot and cut the belting big enough to protect the side of the car, especially the rear in front of the wheels where the stones from the front hit the car. As it is, the original mudflaps do not protect the car all that well when driving on gravel.
And besides, asking the agents for a new one is looking to get ripped off!

Make a steel bracket to fit the coneyor belt/insertion rubber to the existing flares.

I use truck rubber flaps.
This is what Ben put on for me because I only had one original Nissan flap left on my car and I hate paying "stealer" prices.

I also think nthey do a better job than the originals

With regard to the "rubber matting for the sides of the wheel arch opening into the engine bay", it may look more tidy, but I also feel that some ventilaiton there is not a bad thing. If you go through a mud hole it will dirty your engine anyhow.

Quick update. I had the flares sprayed same colour as the truck, and made new braces with 20 x 3mm flatbar and fitted commercial mudflaps. Probably not the most professional job around, but it will do. Will post pics later of the finished product.

After struggling for months I managed to purchase a set of mudflaps for my Nissan Patrol 1992 from a new spares place next to Sollys Tyres in Krugersdorp. They had all kinds there. I al also looking for fender flares as my dogs chewed the back ones qu9te badly. I was thinking of having them repaired.
