Another small but practical modification that could make life a little easer.

Rear Door Mod

Hi All Patrollers,

I decided to get one of those door extension hinges for the rear door advertised on the Aussie web - and it arrived yesterday!!! Yes it woks out a bit expensive - but I thought what the hell - got nothing to lose!! And what a pleasure it is to open that rear door now  - I have a fridge slide in the left rear, and it always scratches the leather on the inside of the door  - from there the piece of sheet metal you will see on the photos. This is what it looked like before the mod:

And this is after the mod - check the difference!!!

Looks great hey - maybe we must get Nissan SA to bring these things in - maybe it will work out cheaper then!!

Pieter, could you perhaps post pictures of the actual hinges?

Pieter, the problem was that you actually used the address of the album instead of to the individual pictures. The address of the album looks like this:
http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/gallery/albu ... lbum_id=49

The best way of obtaining the address of an individual picture in an album is to click on the thumbnail so that the full size image opens and then to right click on the full size and then go to "Properties" to get the image address, which looks something like this:
http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/gallery/imag ... age_id=255
This address can then be inserted in between the [ Img ] and [ /Img ] codes to have the image displayed in your post.

A common mistake is to right click on the thumbnail image and then use its address. This leads to small thumbnail images being displayed instead of the fullsize ones intended. The thumbnail's address looks like this:
http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/gallery/imag ... age_id=255

Notice the "mode=thumbnail&" part in the address, which distinguishes it from the address of the fullsize image.

Gerrit,

Ok thanks for that technical explanation - even me as a blondie understood it!!! Sorry about the mess you had to fix though

I can kick my own bud that I did not photograph the hinge before attaching it to the body - but I actually read about it somewhere here on our forum. Go to www.4x4equip.com.au - you will get pictures there as well. But it is a piece of pie to fit - even for a blondie like me!!

I will remove it at a later stage and then post (try!!??) a picture or 2 of it again.

Rgards

Does this door extension hinge carry any weight because I just unbolt it on a trip and make sure with modified rubber door stoppers that the door doesn’t open too far to bend it?
