Re: Left barn door extension
Morning Friends,
Has anyone installed one of Peter's brackets on a pre-2004 GU?
I want to know if it'll work for me. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post.
Thanks!

Re: Left barn door extension
I installed it on my 2009 GU Series 4. It is worth doing so, my view.Witbobbejaan wrote:Morning Friends,

Re: Left barn door extension
I fitted mine on my 1999 GU. Works like a dream. Also added an old weak gas strut to the bottom of the door to stop it "moering" me on the back when parked at a slant. I posted something years back on it, but here is 2 links I found

Re: Left barn door extension
Great, thanks guys! I'll go the bracket route then.
Cedric, Im looking into cost effectiveness of having a Stay (similar to the one on the Right door) fabricated instead of using a strut. I'm scared of the strut door "moering" me from the front! I have a pair of struts I took off my Venter trailer, but not even Venters main service department could install those so they don't jump off!

Re: Left barn door extension
haha... yeah, you have to use a very weak gas shock. My one was so soft I could easily push the piston back in by hand. With that one on the door it holds the door nicely especially if you have full hands and cannot hold the door open. I originally wanted to do what you mention, but purely for the reason i said, I went with the gas shock. Its one of the best mods I've done as I ope the barn doors a lot on mine.
