However, this was the first time i was buying such an expensive vehicle and on such low milage, i wanted to keep things original and my service history true, for fear that something goes wrong under warranty or extended warranty (Which has happened) , so i was stuck between a rock and a hard place but it has , in the end, saved me about a R50 - R60 000 repair bill on the gearbox.... although that said i have had to wait 7months for it to be fixed , and i have been without a vehicle now for 4months in total. (still waiting)
Russ, if you had fixed it yourself, I am convinced it would have cost less than a tenth of that, if only because you would have done something about it long before every other component in the gearbox was buggered.

This is exactly the reason I purposefully buy vehicles only after their warranties have expired, because I have heard stories like this from virtually every manufacturer.
I believe that Land Rover are about the best in this regard (as far as 4x4's go), but even they have left somebody I know in the lurch for six months while they tried to figure out what went wrong with his virtually brand new Disco 3, and then at the end wanted to blame him for it. As far as I am concerned they are almost all a bunch of lazy chancers. And furthermore, as the spare wheel cover on the back of a cruiser I saw yesterday says, life's too short to drive a Landy

I guess you right. Im just isolating this case because it has affected me very personally. Its not even the parts that i mind waiting for, but when your vehicle has been sitting on their floor for 4 weeks, and then they only order the parts, knowing it will take another 4-6 weeks from japan, that is the part that i refuse to accept. (no pun intended there  ).

Nissan SA take note of the comments andrespond as follows:

The Nissan SA Customer Support Department has been in contact with Mr. Kellermann regarding the availability of acourtesy vehicle.

Thanks for updating this grant. Yes, they have been in contact with me, but to be honest it holds absolutely no water. Im done with them, its too little way way way too late. To keep my vehicle on their workshop floor for over 4 months and not issue me with a courtesy vehicle is completely outrageous.

There is simply no response to previous or current questions Nissan South Africa could offer me that would rectify what has happened here, nor would any difference be made subsequent to that.

They failed me, along with NSA 's appointed supplier /repairer , and neither have conscience in this regard.

Anyway, i will post full report the day after i get my vehicle back in working order.

Russ

 This is serious and what I cannot understand is the type of answer, it reads to me[ remember I am Afrikaans] as to say fu..k o.. and stop complaining. I understand that the Chinees vehicles that are comming in and wich have been around treat people differently. They are hungry for business and deal with problems. We as the Nissan club have had endless problems with the attitude of "go away". I have been lucky in that I deal with Mark White who still sorts out problems and the Workshop Manager, Gavin is a star, but generally Nissan does not leave me with awarm feeling. I am so sorry about this case and cannot comprehend the attitude displayed. Sterkte. Nico
