Hello All,
Help needed with Dashboard removal Y61 Patrol 1999
I have my dash almost out.... but seems something around the instrument panel holding it back.
I am expecting that I have to first remove the instrument cluster ... drop stearing column.... perhaps....?
I need to clean out all the airducts and clean the system - just way too much dust in system, probably clogged up maybe some mushrooms growing there....
Regards
Irfaan

I think I have a mushroom farm too.... ..... I've still got Atlantis sand blowing through my vents when I put the fan on full blast !!
I've just been a bit scared of the size of the job to remove everything to get to the vent pipes !!!
Gonna watch this one..... Irfaan.... please take loads of photos so we can see how this project goes!!!

Re: Help! Dashboard removal Y61 Patrol 1999
All,
You MUST open this and you will be shocked.
Go to near end of post and read part marked ********* first.... (you may opt out to remove dash...)
Note: Once I found the screw under the instrument panel, it was easy to remove the dash. (but to clean the AC box - you dont have to remove dash - but does make it easier)
Here goes....
Remove battery negative.
Loosen trim around gear shift two scres on side one under ashtray.
Remove lighter housing and bottom two screws holding dash
Remove radio facia - insert flt tip screwdriver at bottom.
Remove radio / cd, and plugs to de-frost, secondary tank and rear cooler.
Remove left and right handles next to windscreen
Remove pillar facias - pull hard
Remove fuse box cover and bottem cover under stearing
Remove glove box - six screws
Remove covers on top of dash and two 12mm bolts - use stanley blade to avoid damage - or recycled this blunt kitchen knife...lol
Remove two nuts - 10mm maybe, bottom left and right of dash.
Drop strearing column four (yes not two) and let stearing rest on seat.
Remove Instrument panel cover - two hidden screws under dash. And push two clips from behind - at bottom of black surround / facia / cover....
remove intrament panel
Remove one dash screw under instrament panel. (good time to replace blown lamps or replace with leds)
Remove mirror adjust switch cable, warning lights switch cable.
Lift dash out..
I removed switches and just washed whole dash - using sponge and wire coathanger - cleaned ducs, tothbrush...
*************** (is really required to remove the dash......if not then......
Now remove blower b\motor and clean inside housing - (my gues is that if you have camera / webcam on end of wire - you can see the dirt in the ac box - and should be able to vacume from here......
but if dash removed then..
right in middel ....Clean inside throat of air duct "master" - kind of grand central station....
Lastly remove clip and two scres from AC box. - pry open and insert vacume pipe.....
As i did not have compressed air to blow in reverse direction - i may make a little nozzle on install permanently, and vacume from motor side (easy to remove motor even with dash in)
this took 4 hours - but next time wil take 2.5...
Re-assemble
if you cant see the link search on flickr for Nissan Patrol leaves 1999 and you should find it....
Regards
Irfaan

There is enough firewood in there to 'braai' a camel !
BTW I think most South African models also doesn't have the pollen filter. Apparantly you can just cut open the slots and insert the filters
Well done with the project - I think there are few people brave enough to tackle a massive job like this
