Seats that rattle,shake and knock

Post by Russ Kellermann »

Guy, you gotta help me here. :helpsos:

I have the single cab 2007 4.2 Pickup,so i'm obviously comparing front seats only here (but as far as i know the seats and seat mechanisms are the same as the wagons,so...)

When i'm driving on a corrugated road, or one with donga's and potholes, my seats shake violently and i can hear the mechanisms knocking around :fire: . Does this happen to all patrols and what can be done to fix this issue,.....i dont know what to do, i'm at my witts end, please stop me from getting out the welding gear!

They say,a car's seat that is loose are fast
Take out the seat and look at the slides, maybe a nylon guide are broken or worn out.But it's the best to take them out.
Good Luck

bwhaha, ...fast! i drive a 4.2 buddy, that saying is definitely off target here! hahaha.

I'll have a look at the sliders, sounds like it could be something like that.

Any other people out there with noisy seats?

update: took both seats out, checked for wear,no nylon bushes or anything here chaps, seems like on the patrols' its just metal on metal hey. eish. Anyway, used a bit of brute force and closed the gap, so My rattle and know is gone, all good, get in the car, now the other side (that wasn't making any noise) has a squeak! :steamingears: eish.

This is typical/common "bakkie" seat noise. Why do you think farmers drive with their windows open?

Add to the clamping and bending a bit of wax/grease here and there as well as thin strips of carpet in the required spaces. However, this should be a regular "service item" every 30k km's or so.
