Clank sound from rear of vehicle with diffloc engaged...

Hi Guys,
Need your expert advice on this one.
I am in the market for a patrol. Drove one today and picked up an issue. When the diffloc is engaged, the diffloc light keeps flashing on the dash but does engage. My understanding is that the light supoosed to be on constantly, which does not happen. The car does lock the diff though as I tested it on a dirt rd and can feel it working.
Now for the problem, when turning full to the right i hear a clanking sound from the rear drivers side wheel. This does not happen when turning left. Should I consider asking seller to fix or should I run for the hills. I think it might be the diff.
1. Is there a reputable shop i can take it to in Pretoria? I am in the east.
2. Any one had this issue and what was the costs to fix?
3. Car goes well while in 4L and 4H, with diffloc, while driving straight, its only when turning full right.

Is that not the sound the diff makes when the vacuum does not engage the difflock correctly/all the way?
Just a vacuum problem perhaps?

Hmmm... does sound like the dog is jumping out of the slot on the difflock. This could be, like Malcolm mentioned, that the vacuum is possibly not 100% and therefore insufficient vacuum to keep the dog snugly in its slot, which could explain the flashing difflock light. On mine sometimes it takes a little forward side to side moving to get the difflock to fully engage. There is a definite "clunk" as it locks in properly and then the light shows solid. As far as I know, the light circuit and the actual movement of the dog are 2 separate circuits so if the light is constantly flashing then I think the dog is not moving and locking in 100%.
when you have the Patrol in 4x4 H or L, I'm thinking that doing the full lock to check the difflock may not be giving you the correct answer. Best way is to jack up the back axle put on tressels and with difflock off rotate one wheel. If turning in opposite direction all is well.... then engage the difflock, turn one wheel slowly and feel and hear if it locks in and check if opposite wheel is turning in the same direction as the one you are turning. You should hear a distinct "clunk" as it locks in place

Thank you Malcolm, Tinus and Rickster for the valid inputs. It does make sense!
The guy selling the vehicle wants to sell it "as is", I even offered to pay for the diagnosis to check whats wrong with the vehicle but he refused.
So long story short, he would prefer to sell a "broken" vehicle to a buyer (hope he tests it well) and I would like to understand whats wrong with a vehicle before I pay for it...... So we could not see eye to eye and I cancelled the deal.

Sash, either offer him a ridiculous price or walk away. I think a new ARB or Eaton locker will slap you back R 20k with installation ( this is a guestimate as I have no clue actually). There are good Patrols out there, the right one will come along.

Probably too late to ask what model and at what price?
As Cedrick said, new difflock would be around 20k price range. Eaton probably around 16k and arb 24k(another 5.5k for the arb compressor).... (from quotes I got about a year ago).
