According to the service manual, it is supposed to be afull-floating H260, with four pinions (I presume this is Nissanspeak for spider gears), and a 4.375:1 ratio (35 tooth ring gear and 8 tooth pinion).
The Petrol version has the same, but with 4.111: ratio.
I see I was wrong, since it has a center pumpkin it is not the same as a Safari's, but there may still be some parts interchangeability?
On the other hand, I know the Y61 pickups have a rear axle that sounds the same on paper.
Not sure a vibrating propshaft can cause an oil leak that far from the output shafts? But I don't have much experience in this area.

Diff was stripped and reassembled. All was fine inside apparently.
