Apologies. I've been working myself to death and not have been particularly active forum-wise the last week or two.

Sorry to hear about the transmission issues. Let's hope it's something small. Please keep us up to date.

Dis reg Errol. Baie dankie, nou voel ek nie so alleen nie!

Maar totdat ons nie oopgemaak het nie, gaan ons nie definitief weet nie.
Die kar gaan volgende week na die ombouer toe, wat gaan oopmaak. Hy is addament dis nie soveel werk soos wat almal se om die ratkas los te maak nie.
Maar hoe dit ookal sy, ons sal eers definitief weet teen (ek skat) einde volgende week.

Ek weet almal het hul opinies, maar ek reken nog steeds dit is clutch hierdie.
Niks anders breek so maklik op 'n Patrol nie.
Die enigste ding wat maak dit mense nie so reken nie, is omdat daar geen geruis of sukkel is om in rat te beweeg nie, en hy huidiglik in neutraal sit. d.w.s hy het nie in a rat gaan staan en vassit nie.
Ek verbeel my tog die kar het gesukkel om aan die beweeg te kom na ek hom in rat gesit het en clutch gelos het, so 100m voor die engjin gaan slaap het, en AlexB my begin tou het.
Ek het eers gedag dit is maar modder wat die wiele laat spin, maar ek dink die ware spin was intern, eerder as ekstern. En daarna gaan vrek die enjin toe....

Die kar is op die regte plek.
Het Vrydag middag in die reen en druk verkeer getou. Nie lekker nie.
Hulle maak hom Maandag oop.

Maar die dokter het reeds met ay flitsie gekyk.
Die enjoi mountings is geweld op die chassis.
So die enjin moet boontoe lig om plek te maak vir ratkas losmaak onder. Tensy mens die mountings sou af grind.
Hierdie gaan nie goedkoop wees nie.

Maar ek sal verbaas wees as dit nie die koppellaar is nie.

after reading this post I thought I must give some of my experiences with the clutch. When my 5th gear went while in Ethiopia I returned to Vim Hollands place where he has a pit. Getting a new 5th gear in Ethiopia was extremely expensive so I decided to remove the box, wash out the bits of broken spline and drive back to Durban with just 4 gears. I read in the manual that it was important to make sure the bell housing was sealed including the clutch lever rubber where the fork goes into the bell housing. I could not find the little bung at the bottom of the bell housing but decided that it would all be sorted out once back in Durban.

I decided to go back via the Unity bridge in between Tanzania and Moz. It had rained a day or 2 before and I drove about 30 odd k's in deep muddy ruts made by the big trucks . After stopping at a roadblock, the clutch slipped so badly I had to take the box out again on the side of the road. When I say I, I mean 5 very willing and helpful Tanzanians. They showed me how the mud builds up behind the fingers of the clutch and stops them from putting pressure on the clutch plate. They told me it was a regular occurrence in those parts.

So now I make sure that all those bits around the bell housing are in good condition.

Box was taken out today.
Clutch is kaput.
They already got the new one there to put in.
