at 79 K it should NOT be the seals or O-rings.
Does fault at Torque converter report on the 'console' [meaning the agent's computer ?? [vra maar net .. wonder 'k sommer]

They said they can't pick any errors up on the computer. Seems iil need to wait until the new year and when I'm back in CPT to sort it out.

Any recommendations for a reliable auto specialist in CPT?

I once had a problem that my 4.8 wouldn't go forwards (I didn't test reverse when it happened). The engine would rev but no drive.
In the engine bay on the passenger side there is a small box with relays in it. One of these is for the reverse light and another one is for the gearbox.
I opened these 2 relays and cleaned the contacts. It is now 4 years later and it is still going.

i checked the manual and ran the self diagnostic checks but could t pick anything up.

im back in CPT this week and will get it checked out by a "PRO". got a contact from Stefan for a guy in CPT (Frans Fourie) which i called and he will have a look this week to see what he can pick up.

Good news - I got the lights sorted - fiddled with a few wires and plugs and now it works again. found one damaged wire which i taped up - think this might have been the problem one.

Bad news - still no reverse gear! took it into a gearbox specialist in CPT this morning and he checked the oil color which was brownish and immediately said clutch is warn and im looking at R32k (Exl VAT) for a full overhaul.
Im taking it somewhere else for a second opinion on Monday.

Lights working perfectly now. previously the brake / reverse lights was all confused but it looks like i got it sorted out now. I taped the damaged wire and also cleaned the some plugs that was full of dust. However the reverse gear is still not engaging.

Taking it to Triangle Transmissions on Monday for some fault finding and testing. if they cant pick anything up on the electronics they will pull the box, strip and see what they can find. They were recommended by a few people.

Eddie - hope you get this sorted quickly and with minimal pain, man.

Just curious (I'm also looking at a GRX).........did you use the Patrol "normally", meaning no heavy towing etc etc?? Stories like this obviously concerns me. And yes, I know any and every car can break.
