Re: No reverse gear A/T
Here is the dimensions, I used a plastic rigid tube and marked it with permanent marker in the cold hot sections.

Re: No reverse gear A/T
The pipe sits behind the engine oil dipstick on the driver's side of the motor, as Tinus says you just unscrew the nut securing top pipe to the oil filler charge pipe.
There is a silver sticker attached to the top charge pipe which states to only use Nissan Matic J so you should find it easily.
You are only supposed to remove this top pipe to insert the dipstick and once you have checked/topped up the autobox oil you must remove the dipstick and replace the top pipe and secure it with the nut. IE don't leave the dipstick in permanently.

Re: No reverse gear A/T
I've been driving with dipstick in place for six years and it does nothing ... (Yes I know the manual says replace cap )

I also can't figure out why you can't leave the dipstick in place, maybe Nissan thinks it could pop out or something but who knows.
Funny that the previous 4 speed auto box came out with a dipstick from the factory.

Re: No reverse gear A/T
It must be something like that as they say you cannot mix the Matic J with other ATF fluids like whats at a normal garage so maybe that's why Nissan put a lock nut on the filler pipe as you sayTinus lotz wrote:I think its becouse they dont want people to put atf in there at the local petrol stasion......

Re: No reverse gear A/T
I'm pretty sure those clever Japanese engineers could have designed a locking cap with a dipstick attached if they wanted
