Hi Chaps,
Was wondering if anyone came across this problem on their vehicles.
I have a 4.8 GRX '13 model. Of late when the car has been standing parked for a couple of days and I want to start up and shift out of PARK, the gearbox shift will not budge. After idling for a little while (and a bit of prodding) it all of a sudden releases and I can shift out of PARK. It has done this at least half a dozen times to me in the last month or so. This will typically only happen in my garage, and not out in town. It has to have been standing a couple of days.
Do you have any ideas on what it could be? Fortunately I still fall within warranty.
Kind regards

Re: Question on 4.8 GRX Gearbox
It could be a couple of things.
I would check that the lock switch at the gear lever is not malfunctioning. This lock is to lock the lever in "P" when the ignition is off and also when the engine is running and brake is not depressed. You can check this easily when engine is off, by leaving the lever in P position and ignition 'on'. Press the brake pedal in and out, and you should hear a click sound from the gear console as the lock open and closes There is a manual override for this lock when you have no electrical power.. ie you can bring out of "p" with ignition off by pushing in the little button switch that situated just forward of the gear lever slide track. - So, next time it wont come out of P, try the manual overide even with engine running.

Re: Question on 4.8 GRX Gearbox
Don't let the car rest on the park gear but rather the handbrake. Fully engage the handbrake before you put the car in park, not after.

Re: Question on 4.8 GRX Gearbox
Sounds to me that there is not enough oil in gearbox, when parked for a long time it slowly filters down and needs to pump oil and get under pressure before gearbox start to work.
