Injector valves replacement

Post by JR7800 »

Hi all,

I wonder if someone might be able to help me.

I found some articles on the internet where people say that they changed their injector valves from size 70 to 60 to help with fuel consumption as soon as their 70 valves needed replacement from normal usage(it seems it wears out and becomes bigger than the size 70 and plays havock with the fuel consumption)

I have the 4500 GL and standard exhaust. 2000 model 174 000km. I get between 4.1km/l and my best ever is 4.7km/l this is combined driving on a tank(50%city/50% openroad no 4x4) does this sound about right? Still learning about my patrol...

I am a complete novice whit regard to fuel injection...

Any advice or ideas around the topic...(and ideas to up my km/l)

Hello JR

I get up to 6.11km/l with 4500. I've fitted a snorkel, so the engine can get fresh air. I've got branches and a 63mm stainless steel exhaust, so the airflow is much better. That is about it. I've got a unichip, so that might help a tad. But my average consumption is 4.5 to 5km/l off road on road etc.

YES - please reply gents - Oompie also needs to know [Lobo is doing 4 - 5 kpl allipad, and that restricts the reach on available fuel ..]
(Lobo has the 280 ZX fuel injection fitted - with Dictator ecu ... i suppose the same would apply??] :oldtimer:

Hi,Before you start modyfing your car or any car, check if the vehicle is on spec with performance.A 100kw car must make at least 95kw on a dyno,if not do not modify, look for the problem.I would sugest go to your nearest dyno and do a powerrun to see if the car is on spec.I can tel you now on the 4.5 the book claim 150, i think, kw's,but the 4.5's make 120kw.A strong one make 130kw.If you put your car on a dyno and the result is 110 or so kw's,the ign timeing is to slow, fix it and the car will respond with power and better fuel consumption!
I quote this because 9 out of 10 4.5's had the slow timeing problems, when I tune them on a Dyno.
Take care if the timeing were to slow and got fixed, for the car not to ping.A 4.5 that ping will give the best performance and consumption, but the ping is bad for the car.
Go read the thread under 4.5 pinging.
The kw's I quote, are at the coast,at inland it will be worse.

Excuse me,if you not living at the coast the 4.5 will not be a pinger, with the right timeing, but will ping if you visit the coast.
They have knock sensors, but the ecu can only pull timeing back to a point.

Huh ?? 100 Kw .. uit LOBO ??? geezzzzzzz, I'll be that lucky ..

no - seriously - the kw quoted by factories as to their vehicles are Kw at the flywheel - and the Dynos we have access to measure output at the drive wheels - en these two - I am sure - will differ much more than 10 kw ???
will one of the informed gents kindly help oompi right here ? :oldtimer: ..... that is, if I am wrong ?

Does anybody have the contact details of a supplier [other than a stealer] where I can obtain a fresh set of injectors for the 280 ZX f i system? [or the 2,8 skyline for that matter??]
Thanx

O ja ek het net n 100kw as n voorbeeld gebruik in my vorige post.
Groete
