4.8 GRX Radiator Failure

Post by cjvp »

Had a very unpleasant experience yesterday. Just listened to the Ford Kuga fire problem on the radio, when smoke/steam billowed from under my Patrol's bonnet, and into the car through the air vents. Needless to say, children wanted to jump out immediately, thinking we have a fire on board as well! Temperature shot up, and I immediately felt better, thinking this must be a radiator hose problem, or radiator itself. End result; radiator. New one - R14 960.00. I saw on the forum that a member got a radiator from Billy at Tombo. Does anyone know whether this option is still available, and if the radiator is of good quality?

Tinus, do you suggest that I replace the viscous fan as well whilst at it?

Just a thought...who as ever changed the anti freeze on a regular basis.......???
There has to be a reason why there are so many Patrols pop their radiators..does the antifreeze changes its character after a certain age and generate more steam or or or ???
Just putting it out there..
