So this afternoon spend a bit of time on the build,

probably the most consuming job, getting the valve clearances right....
But it is finally :blonde: done
Image
Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, the camera obviously did not like the light in my workshop.

Then I fitted the new pistons to the con rods, and fitted the rings.

The pistons that came from the sub assembly I got from Frans.

The new pistons fitted.

Tomorrow will be a busy day,....
Got a lot to do :woo: :woo:

Well done.

Ek het self vreeslik gesukkel met my QD32ti in my Safari pick-up. Het omtrent 5 verskillende headgaskets gebruik voor ek een gekry het wat werk. Slegs die payen een het gewerk, die res almal geblaas binne 5 min.

So today went slower than I hoped,

To clean everything and arrange the bolts and Nuts took forever, it's a sh.. job but is had to be done...

Got the crank in and it spun beautiful.

Then the pistons,

and then the sump to cover all up, (keep it nice and clean)

Fitted the rear mail oil seal, oil cooler, mountings and that is about it.....

Will keep you updated as I continue.

Good luck Paul. it looks like you are taking all the necessary care and precautions to prevent a failure again.

I must say, there's something about exposed new engine components that is really satisfying

Thanks for all the encouragement. I surely need it with this build.
I have done many engines, but this one is not for the faint hearted.
It is a complicated engine to build, and very time consuming.
I had the timing section complete and covered up, just to discover that the intermediate plate that I used from the "new" sub assembly was not the same and left a gap below the injector pump that would have caused oil to flow freely out of there.
Had quite mixed feelings about that one.
1. Highly de...... in because I have to redo the whole timing section,
2. But extremely grateful that I discovered it now and not after the engine was done and fitted back into the Patrol

Sorry guys there is no pictures other that part of the build. It was not something that crossed my mind at that stage.
Hope to complete the build by tomorrow. Will post pictures then.
