1999Nissan Patrol GRX 4500 Air cleaner piping
Hi there,I wonder if someone could help me.
Between the Air Cleaner and the engine(on the 4500 Y61 engine) there's a small rubber konsertina piece with a metal hose clamp on each side that connect the air cleaner piping/ducting to the engine.
The one on my Patrol was for some reason badly perished.
I'v been to Nissan,it does not show on the parts catalogue, only the rest of the ducts and air cleaner components.
A while ago when I took my Patrol to Ben(from BG Auto fit) to fit Rock Sliders he gave me a piece of blue silicon pipe to fit,but I am worried the day I will do a lot of gravel roads driving that it may come loose and let dust into the engine with catastrophic results.
When I took my Patrol to Graham Cumming(GTech Motors) for oil replacement of all the gearboxes and diffs,he also could not help me.
Ek sal enige feedback baie waardeer.
Dankie.
Groete
Roger

Roger is that pipe before or after the airmass flow meter? Maybe send pic's,
I have also duct tape mine before the airmass flow meter, and that small piece of pipe comes complete with the airpipe connecting to the throttle body as a unit

Re: 1999Nissan Patrol GRX 4500 Air cleaner piping
When replacing the filter element you need to disconnect at intake manifold (plus the other 2 pipes) and after air filter housing. Disconnect sensor, remove 2 butterfly nuts either side of housing and remove complete assembly.
Most mechanics sukkel by disconnecting the other connections and land up breaking parts and duct taping or siliconing together.
If you are battling for parts speak to Shaun Biddassee at Mark White Nissan. There is no part that he has ever not been able to get for me including obscure clips, trim etc etc.
Just be careful as if you order a part the assumption is that you get the plastic clip or rubber seal with it...... no...... separate part which must be ordered separately.
Best is to check that he is in, go and see him with your VIN no, look at the pics with him and order. Most of the stuff is ex Japan and you will be quoted 21 working days but normally arrives in 5 to 10.

Hi. if its the short concertina pipe that has 2 smaller pipes joining it as per part 3 on the 3rd photo, it cost R2700.00 from Nissan. You can get a silicon concertina hose and a steel tube with 2 smaller tubes welded on and make one up for about R300+- Its the one after the airflow meter so if split causes problems when you accelerate or need power.
