Re: Best Oil - TD4.2Ti High Mileage
Having bought the daughter her 4.2 Diesel Troll, I was looking for the oil she should use.
I note all the different filter comments. The filters are not all the same, so don't just look at the filter size.
I did my time with Cummins Diesel and we used Fleetguard filters. Customers used to complain about the price.... Also used to say the Gud / Fram fuel filters last so much longer
Evidently the better filter will block quicker as it is not letting crap through the fuel system, actually the more a filter gets blocked the better it filters - up to a certain point - we had gauges to show when the filter was blocked.
So to demonstrate the different filters, our spares dept cut open 5 fuel filters and cut open the filter material and stretched it out.. you would be shocked at the results. The Gud & Fram had less than 1/2 the length of the Fleetguard filter and others had even less length.
Maybe a member can cut open a few different used ones and give feedback?

Re: Best Oil - TB42 High Milaege
Would Delo 400 be reccommended for a TB42? I see Delo 400 is a API-CJ rated oil.
TB42 manual says: API SE, SF or SG is reccommended.
Been using Helix HX5 all along which is API SN rated.
Somehow I devoloped an itch to feed my TB42 some delo 400, but now I'm wonderingh if it was a mistake....

Delo is expensive oil.Tinus lotz wrote:i also change oil every 5 and filters every 10000 km it works for me . use dello or shell rumila also fuchs 15w 40 all good oil but would rather change more often then spend money on more expensive oils
If you are changing oil every 5000km you may as well use Castrol GTX Diesel.
At 5000km Delo is barely 25% through its useful life.
But, if the cylinders are worn and you use high sulphur diesel then 5000k or 7500k oil changes are probably best..
Remember, we used to change oil in Diesels every 5000km back in the old days when our diesel had 3000+ ppm sulphur.
These days it's difficult to find diesel higher than 50ppm...
