Huh??.... there is a fuse box there on the right and some other funny stuff like a battery and something with a black Coke bottle top on...... :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

But yeah I think that could be the one. Is your turbo high or low mount?

Mine is a low mount turbo, going to have to do some serious puzzle building when it comes to a new air box installation.....

I love this forum you learn something new everyday!! I see from the photos that the diesel patrols do in fact have a motor in them! :surprised: I always thought that they had peddles and under the bonnet was a big black smoke making machine. LOL :rolling: :rolling: :rolling: Viva Petrol Viva

The box is parallel with the front axle.

Without measurements, it looks almost like the 4.5 petrol airbox size is very similar to the ZD30 airbox. On mine I would basically only need a 90 deg bend into the turbo.

You ous make my friday!

Cedric, is that why you get such good mileage from your Kumho's? Because most of the wear is on your Hi Tech's? WWW

The stoichiometric ratio for diesel and for petrol is very similar (14.6 and 14.7). Therefore, the optimal amount of air to generate a given amount of power will also be very similar.

The standard output for the ZD30 is about 118KW if I recall, and thus if your 4.2 delivers that or less, the ZD30 airbox should be OK. The standard output of the 4.5 is 145kW, and I doubt any of your diesel engines are producing more than that (don't m$%r me if I am wrong though), but I would believe that this should on this basis be adequate for the 4.2 diesel. On the other hand, if you can fit something bigger, it should still be advantageous, even if only a little bit. Certainly, if you could maintain the cyclonic velocity of a ZD30 but double the area of the paper filter element, you should gain engine life, service interval and possibly even a little performance.

Marnus, going OT again, i agree completely about the sound of a Merlin. I even have a CD of a mass flypast here somewhere. But no adequate sound system to do it justice. In '99 or '00 the SAAF museam's Spitty pranged into the wall at Lanseria, and as a direct result I stopped going to air shows for ten years. No car has ever come close, but the runner-up is probably the '50s BRM V16 racer. This used Merlin-engine supercharger technology with Methanol fuel to get 600BHP from 1500cc's... Beta that with a mobile smoke generator.
