I'm also looking for free running hubs for my 99 while I'm busy rebuilding the motor mine slips. Any one know WHERE I can get for reasonable price agents charge R4000 EACH!

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
Sorry Andre i was away yesterday, but I see Frans did post some info there. Do you ever come down to JHB area? We can arrange to get a manual on CD for you. As for the pistons... Hmmm I don't know much more than what I've posted mate.
Stefaansie.... I'm not too clued up on the diesel pumps, but Frans asked me to post a pic of mine for him to look at, and if I'm not mistaken it was to ensure that the android was fitted to the pump to adjust the fueling when under boost.

Cedric, don't confuse superior mobile operating systems with mechanical devices that regulate fuelling based on turbo boost pressure (also known as aneroids)!ricster wrote:...Frans asked me to post a pic of mine for him to look at, and if I'm not mistaken it was to ensure that the android was fitted to the pump to adjust the fueling when under boost.

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
Well guys so far so good read a bit about the pistons I found they are apparently good up to 2bar boost they also weigh quite a few grams heavier than the original pistons and have alfin inserts on the top ring. And are made in Japan so far my list runs at R8600 for everything except all the engineering. So its rings pistons sleeves oil pump complete water pump all the seals and gaskets bearings and a new dam and fan clutch. My head price is down to R11600 thanks to cedric and his contact at Nissan. So all in all I'm going to get away just under R 30000 including my turbo and a proper cooler all the bits and a refurbished pump and injectors. As for going to Jhb I go there often Plus I have to some time next week to pick up my new cylinder head.

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
Don't you think is a good idea to get the motor balanced ??? Seeing that you are going to do everything?

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
I Nogal thought about doing that and ceramic coatings on the head and pistons But I'm not sure who What where? On the balancing I've heard some say on a diesel its a waste Cos it runs low revs so I'm really not sure how What where? Any comments?

Andre
This is my opion only and I am not a mackie or engne expert
When I rebuilded my 1800 golf motor it was about 600 rand to balnce the moving parts but is was 10 years ago
It just makes sence to me to have the motor running as smooth as posible
Less vibrasion ect

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
Tinus... I am not sure how the balancing thing works on motors.... but I can say that when my Iron Maiden hits 3500 rpm.... even godzilla's fart will sound smooth....
Ceramic coating of the pistons will help, but I believe only by giving you piece of mind.... even with ceramic coating the pistons, you don't want the EGT's getting passed 650 deg C. But it is your choice.
I would rather save the costs of the ceramic coating and install a full house MADMAN system to monitor everything.

Re: 99 td42 head cracked
Whether balanceng will deliver any noticeable improvement on a TB42 I can't say, but on the other hand I am prepared to bet that it won"t do any harm either.
It's true that they rev slowly, but the parts are all relatively heavy, thus increasing the chance of things being out of balance.
I agree with putting a Madman in.

Hallo Andre
