"Olive", the 4,5 Patrol

Post by petri oosthuizen »

After having sold this to a Buyer from Kimberley...………..viewtopic.php?f=43&t=8672

This BEAUTY came looking for a Good Home, I met the Seller at 07h00 in GP, and it was love at first sight

Went to fetch her last week, driving back I opened up her throat a little, just checking everything is lekker. 6.2 :blonde: km/litre.....!!

I delivered the GL in Bloem this weekend, and sommer decided to follow my wife and kids with Olive. Took it a bit easier, filled up in Bloem yesterday ......… 6.7 km/litre.

What a nice car. Quiet, solid, torquey engine (LOTS of low down torque!!!), and VERY sure footed handling.

I really look forward to driving her back to Bethlehem later today. She will have to tow a Landy on a trailer to Sasol some time soon, and yes, I think she's posed too much now after being cleaned up many times.........time for a bit of offroad work coming up, ASAP!!! :woo:

Edit - coming back from Bloem, between 120 - 130 km/h, 4 in car, aircon on, I filled up again tonight...…..bit heavier at 5,6 km/litre.

Got some "mud trapper" mats today, sommer from Midas, and they fit well over the existing original Nissan carpet set, don't want to damage that.

What to do with these sagging " nets"...??? I've seen it in almost EVERY older Patrol.

Renew or remove?? I don't really have any use for it, its just in my way now to be honest

Mine isn't sagged that bad, but I have been toying with the idea to use the anchors to fit a bracket that can possibly hold a "FireStriker" fire extinguisher. I haven't done the measurements yet though.

Ag I'll make a plan, either remove altogether or ask an upholsterer to sort them out. Not crazy about it anyway, must say

Mine also went all saggy. I got a roll of elasticated material, about 50 - 60mm wide and took the door panels off and pried the 2 plastic ends off to take the saggy net off. I then drilled two holes through the end caps and through the door panels, and clamped the material tape one one side, and stretched it a little and clamped it on the other with neat little bolts and nuts. Its been on there for probably 7 years and I had to pull a little tension into it a years or two back as it had slipped slightly. The reason for the elastic material is to hold a small fire extinguisher in my door without it rattling around

Olive took a SWB Landy to Bloem on a trailer yesterday.

VERY good towing vehicle, EXCELLENT road holding, daai gat sit so vas soos julleweetwat in 'n wolkombers, I really enjoyed the drive.

Consumption 5.1 km/litre at between 90 and 100 km/h, kept her in 4th gear all the way.

BeF@KTE 4x4 hierdie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :blonde:
