In Nov 2018 I had gullwings installed in my 4.8GRX. You can import them from Oz but they dont seem to do the LHS window as that is where the aircon ducts are in the GRX model. Spoke to to Richard at Big Country 4x4 and he agreed to do a prototype for me. It did involve some fine tuning after the fact but that's often the price to pay for being the first. I did a 6 week Botswana/Caprivi trip with plenty rain - about 8000km. To date i have had no water/ dust ingress despite some proper rain. Also no movement/slippage in any of the alignment of the hinges or locks.
These photos were taken before I had replaced the black trim towards the rear of the window. When i took the originals out the clips broke. A set of two was about R800 from Nissan directly, including clips and grommets.
Next time around i will get the locks coded with a single key.
GIven the very small gap between the gutter and roof line drilling into the roof is not an option. Hence the rather large, but effective hinges mounted on the gutter.
RHS panel from outside open and inside. Note the notches cut out for the lock to seat and for the shock to be fitted.
The LHS side panel is small on the inside. The carpet is covering the plastic ducting that routes air from the blower into the roof mounted vents. This only applies to the GRX.
The last bit of stuff i did that worked really was having these bags made from Conqueror in Midrand.
The pouches were custom sized to fit things like the airhose, sat phones and other electrical goodies. They wer packed full on my Bots trip and have lasted since.
on the bottom right bag you can see where holes were fitted to allow cables to be routed when charging devices/rechargeable batteries.
