I got a TD42

At last Ive gotten myself a diesel!

Ever since Ive had the 4.8, ive wanted to have a diesel GU as well, just because. And so, at last, I managed to get myself a TD42 NA GU. Massive thanks to Tinus, he helped me out big time with this!

Shes an old girl, but in surprisingly good condition for her age and mileage (360k kms). I need to get the all the aftermarket electrics looked at and/or removed as that stuff is always a hidden nightmare, and then some other small stuff, the drivers seat cushion is collapsed, so I sit way too low in it, the wheels need a new lick of paint, and theres a leak on the gearbox. All in good time I guess.

Now just trying to get used to the lack of power. Going up any slight incline is an event all by itself. I didnt even realise the road went up on some sections on the drive home until it was pointed out to me with this old girl, rowing that gearbox like a canoe!

Thanks!
Ya, before I got it I kept telling myself im gonna be a purist and keep it stock. The first drive home cured me of that idea.

I want to start a grocery list of whats needed for the conversion and slowly buy the parts each month over an extended period

Now you are talking..... You will be pleasantly surprised once it is done.... totally different driving style, but epic in its own right (old school technology)

I haven't extensively driven an NA wagon, just a couple of short drives.

But with the hair dryer in mine, there's much less rowing than with the 4.5 petrol that preceded it...

Looks very well kept.
