Y61 4.2 Rear knocking noise

Rear Nocking Noise when driving in sand, on the road no noise, cannot say where in the rear, anybody have any ideas

Mabe the rubber packing on top of the coil is worn ?

Or the upper and lower rubber bushes might be "kaput", so as you go over a bump it has excess movement. You should also feel it on pull off though....

One of the rubbers on my rear sway bars disintegrated. The sway bar had a lot of play as a result and any drastic movement, such as going over a speed bump would result in a loud clack sound.

I've also had two of my shocks on different cars develop knocking sounds. It was a major pain to find since the shock tested fine. Could have been the mounting rubbers as well I suppose. Either way, replacing the shocks sorted the problem in these two cases.

Thanks good place to start, I have fitted OME recently, made noise before as well.

HI, I have recently replaced coils and shocks OME 2", made no difference, going over speed humps does not make a noise.

Check the sway bar links to see If any of them are loose. Mine keeps coming loose on the rear passenger side and any articulation results in a loud knocking noise because of the play. Drives me crazy QQQ it's fine on the tar but as soon as I go off road it starts.

I need to get new ones next time I'm in SA
