Edit: I see now it is measured off the wheels, so very good rather than ok.

243 kw, and 880NM sound a bit out of kilter.
But if 243kw off the wheels, and 680 NM, that is very very nice power.

Re: Storm Trooper RGM supercharged 4.8
Some more info I just found now!!!
RGM SUPERCHARGED (SP1) 377Kw & 687NM (auto) ...GRX...ENGINE CODE (P74)
With RGM’s major success with bolt on supercharger conversions and especially the Nissan Navara 4.0lt petrol, we have also received on going requests to develop a supercharger upgrade to the Nissan Patrol 4.8lt. The perfect candidate vehicle appeared on our door step , this vehicle was no city slicker 4x4 and was to be used in the real off road as well as on road purposes. Our task was to create an extremely powerful bolt on supercharger installation that would suit being full laden and towing heavy masses with no increased fuel consumption. RGM is proud to release this bolt on supercharge conversion that has not only met but also exceeded the expectations of our very satisfied development customer.
Our in house design division utilizing sophisticated CAD design program came up with a design with emphasis on durability, reliability and presentation.
The net result is a conversion that is not only exceptionally pleasing to the eye but also delivers in it expectations of increasing torque and horsepower substantially.
NSN PATR 4.8 SUP kW
NSN PATR 4.8 SUP Nm
RGM once again utilized the exceptionally reliable Vortech centrifugal V2 Si-trim supercharger. This unit is also renowned for it’s quiet working operation. It is high pressure oil fed and runs a gravitational oil return to the sump.
A state of the art and more efficient RGM liquid charge cooling system was designed allowing for lower boost temperatures, less pressure drop across the cooler, and a compact and tightly nested water reservoir which eliminates a lot of plumbing of water pipes. There are a smaller number of components utilized resulting in an easier and quicker installation. In extensive testing we have reduced boost air temperatures by up to 60 degrees Celsius. Unlike an air to air intercooler that naturally restricts the air flow across the radiator, this liquid charge cooling system utilizes a thin heat exchanger that is positioned in front of the radiator and offers very little restriction in air flow. The purpose for this heat exchanger is to cool the liquid that is used in the liquid charge cooler. This system is totally stand alone and does not interfere with the standard cooling system of the vehicle, and is fitted with a Bosch electric water pump for circulation and cooling.
As the supercharger unit is permanently engaged, the use of the RGM /Excell high flow dump valve( recirculation valve) has been employed to eliminate any surging under light throttle and coasting conditions. This supercharger develops a maximum of 0.5 bar boost (7 pounds).
The carbon fibre intake housing where the high flow serviceable performance air filter is situated is now mounted to the main supercharger bracket and moves around freely as the engine moves. The engines air source is still situated in the left fender and attaching an after market snorkel is done with ease.
This installation is totally bolt on. The engine is not opened or tampered with in any way, no body panels are modified to suit the installation making this conversion totallyreversibly. Engine electronics both ignition timing and fuel are remapped to suit the additional compressed air supply by means of a unichip Q plus. The same unichip is used to remove the road speed governor on request.
Additional fuel pump.
The installation of the additional fuel pump , marked with a red arrow on the image, is to supply more fuel on demand when requested by the engine depending on driving conditions. This is done totally electronically and programmed into the Unichip. There is a safety feature built in that should this high quality Walbro fuel pump fault in any way , the engine power will automatically be reduced and the vehicle will still be perfectly drivable. The electrical circuit for this pump has it’s own Bosch relay and is individually fused.
Service and maintenance
Use only full synthetic engine oil 10w60 or 5w50. As a contingency plan use the highest multigrade oil available.
You have been supplied with a spare Supercharger belt part number 6PK2540.
The installation is fitted with a serviceable performance air filter part number BMC 100/140. The cleaning kit utilized for the air filter are available from RGM and we recommend that the filter gets cleaned at least every 5000km in extremely dusty conditions .
The liquid charge cooler has a ratio of 12 to 1 , made up of Redline water wetter and distilled water. The water wetter is available from RGM . The installation of the harge cooler has been fitted with a by pass (tell tale) for easy inspection of the charge cooling system. The charge cooler level and function is to be checked by the following procedure , with the engine cold and at idle rpm , remove the charge cooler cap and check for circulation( water flowing back into the neck of the charge cooler just below the cap) The water level should be just below the circulation height, no more or no less .
The supercharger , unlike a turbo charge installation, it is not necessary to leave the vehicle idling every time before switching off , however, we do recommend that in extreme conditions or after a long road trip you let the supercharger idle down for approximately 1 minute before switching off.
Outstanding results are achieved with the power topping 235kW on the wheels and 377kW on the engine as opposed to the standard 189kW on the engine. This is a 100% increase in engine output.
Engine torque has reached an amazing figure ,it has gone from a standard 425nm to 687nm which equates to 62% gain in torque.
TORCO fuel accelerator (highly recommended on forced induction vehicles) RGM dual mapping includes switch over in motion facility.

Re: Storm Trooper RGM supercharged 4.8
Man oh man!!! I really wanted to do this conversion, but was informed that a turbo might be a better fit to the 4.8. But now after reading this, I want to do the supercharger again.
Cannot decide. Maybe cost may be a deciding factor, whereas the last cost I heard for a turbo on the 4.8 is around R65k, and I suspect this supercharger conversion is more than double that. What are your thoughts?
