Patrol a real donkey cart without powersteering

Post by AndriesS »

Driving into work today ( does not happen that often at the moment - the gautrain really works well) cruising at a decent speed I suddenly noticed the steering stiffening up just of centre, Not the greatest feeling when you are doing 120  Amazing how your minds work , left garage no wet patch so should not be oil loss unless sudden , radio - volume down, listen for new sounds, check tyre pressure gauge, all ok, keep eye on temp and alternator gauge.

Slow down a bit - too 100, take offramp to work and prepare for a gym section. Drove into parking slowly - you need man handle the beasty for the tight turns. (Steady speed you can handle the car quite easy but would not like to do an evasive maneuver .)

Pop the bonnet, belt is off. Luckily with the forum I can check what size belt and even what spanners I need ( I know I wrote that post) - even though I have a basic tool set I might as well buy a spare 12 and 14mm and get it going.

I lost all four fan belts the other day. I think one broke and got wrapped up in the others.

The only correct spares I had were the two for the fan/water pump/alternator. So I know exactly what you mean Andries!
