Its just a good habit to let any turbo engine idle for a while before switching it off, specially if you have been driving hard before stopping.
The reason for this is that the turbo is very very hot and when shutting the engine off the oil "cokes" around the bearings/bushes which reduces the lifetime of the turbo.
I just drive very slow the last km of my drive to make sure the turbo is cooled down, I then just switch off when I stop.
The EGT gauge makes it easier to estimate how warm the turbo is
