Makes sense, Peter. The one bar is also slightly narrower than the others. I guess that bar goes on the higher feet then.
The roof gets narrower to the back.......or not?? I'm talking maybe 1-2 cm here guys, barely noticeable, but those load bars were definitely designed that the narrower/higher one goes somewhere.
I think you have it spot on though Peter - my ex Troopy also had quite a higher foot at the front to "level" it with the rest.
I's say narrower and higher in the front.
Will check tomorrow - thanks again.

I have never measured the width Petri.
Without special tools I suspect the only way to measure that is to adjust the feet on the load bars, then remove them and measure on them?

The space between the gutters is slightly narrower (maybe 5mm) at the rear of the vehicle.

Re: My Temporary Trol - 1998 4500i
Used the old Trol last week, went to Roma in Lesotho for the Roof of Africa race.
Car was loaded, with stuff on top, and towing a heavy bike trailer.
Best consumption, from here to Maseru, tar road, 100 - 110, was 6 km/litre.
Worst, in the mountains, stop and go etc etc, was 4,8.
Average is 5.4. That's about par for the course for ANY other similar sized SUV petrol.
Another myth scrapped from my books........the Patrol petrol is not THAT much of a guzzler versus any other 4x4.
