Re: SHOW YOUR FLEX!
Pierre se patrol so 3 jaar terug:
Die eerste Patrollie in RSA met full air suspension. Hierdie is egter so bietjie langer as myne.

Re: SHOW YOUR FLEX!
'n X-link of baie langer radius arms. EK gaan albei opsit.

Re: SHOW YOUR FLEX!
Hi Pierre and welcome. It is great to have you here and I look forward to having the benefit of your insight.
I agree that the leading arm type suspension employed on the front suspension of coil sprung Patrols has very high roll stiffness even with the anti-roll bar disconnected. This high roll stiffness fights flex and the stiffness increases rapidly as the axle roll increases. The cause of this high roll stiffness is the fact that roll deflection of the axle is only possible through deformation of the two rubber bushes that attaches each leading arm to the axle housing.
Drop boxes can restore the suspension geomtery of a lifted vehicle and obviate the need for caster correction bushes that are stiffer than the originals, but would not be able to improve flex over the original.
Longer leading arms will improve flex because less bush deflection will be needed for a given axle roll deflection and this means that less of a countering moment will be generated when the axle is subjected to roll deflection.
Could you please describe the X-linkage and how it works.

Re: SHOW YOUR FLEX!
There are other methods of getting the front to flex, 5-link or Superior Engineering's replacement arm that has a extra bush in it. There are very very hot debates about which is best when and where and how it affects squat and antisquat and torque transfer into the chassis etc etc. Outerlimits and Patrol4x4 are full of these discussions. Here is a link to the X-link home.

I am of the opinion if you are going further than the standard 2" OME or TJM or similar lifts, pay careful attention to the front. You are going to loosen up the back at the expense of good offroad performance. I bet you are going to end up connecting the swaybar in the back again because the car is going to feel like it wants to go-over in serious cross axle climbing situations. I did.
