Russ , the shackles are 145mm from center to center. Mc Naughtans in Fairbairn str 35 Parow
My GVM is gereeld meer

Handles or hinges?

I went to McNaughtons today, saw those handles like the ones you have, man, i wanted them so much, but i just couldn't afford them, so i ended up getting the smaller puch-lock nylon/metal ones that everyone else uses, would have bee so much nicer with those big pull/turn handles though.

Price difference was:

R1090 . 00 for 8 (nylon.metal push button)
R2500. 00 for 8 (big pull/turn handles)

After driving around paarden island looking at marine shops etc etc etc, i ended up finding the hinges i was after at builders warehouse, can you believe it!

R440. 00 for 10 (Alu hinges large)

Werf, i take it you tow a Trailer alot , because 8 ton GVM seems alot to be just your vehicle ?
Who did your reduction gears in your transfer case , or are you running a crawler box (second small transfer box) with its own shifter?

Werf my Canopy is made like this:

50x50 aluminium square tube frame (with extra roof ribs for strength)
3mm tread plate side doors, folded back on itself for strength and shape
3mm Marine grade smooth alu sheet bent to round profile for the edging (top - to make it nice and round and look cool, probably not as big as yours though)
three quarter rear door- flip up
2 small hatches front -flip up
2 big hatches rear - 1 flip up, 1 flip down
No cupboards but adaptable for later
No glass or windows, but i will have option of grid for the dog to get air

Please let me know if i should add something else, or be careful of something, it might help me, thanks!

Russ.Sorry dit is GCM .My 14000 Champ weeg so 3240kg met net diesel en my in.Ek sleep gereeld n 4t roller of teer.

Russ, my canapy split in twee 1/3 kan jy as n crew cab gebruik.
