Hello Koos,

According to the workshop manual the fluid change intervals are:

Brake Fluid: Every 40000 km

Clutch Fluid: No specified interval

Coolant: Check and correct coolant mixture ratio every 40000 km, replace coolant every 80000 km
For ambient temperatures down to -15°C, the ratio between anti freeze and distilled/demineralized water is 30% anti freeze: 70% water. The mixture ratio can be tested using a coolant hydrometer.

Gearbox (Manual): Every 100000 km

Transfer Box: Every 40000 km

Differentials: Every 40000 km

Hi Koos,

Haynes manual for Y60:

Brake and Clutch Fluid:???
Coolant ,and ratio between Anti Freeze and Water: 40 000km or every 2 yrs
Gearbox: 40 000km or every 2 yrs
Transfer Box: 40 000km or every 2 yrs
Diffs: 40 000km or every 2 yrs

Sounds like a good starting point for the Y61 as well.

Interesting that it differs significantly from the Y60. Do you think it's an oversight by Haynes? Interestingly Nissan SA recommend the following for the Y60 manual trans (API GL-4 75W/90 or 80W/90) and the following for the Y61 (API GL-4 75W/90 only). I have recommended lubricants on a technical bulletin (but the program won't allow me to attach pdfs)

I am not sure what Nissan recommends for the Y60 in terms of the transmission oil change intervals, but 40000 km does sound quite short for a manual transmission. I suppose it is better to err on the side of conservatism.

The Nissan recommended gearbox oil change interval for the old 160 Series is 40000 km, though. Perhaps they were satisfied that lubricant technology had progressed sufficiently to allow extended gearbox oil change intervals by the time the Y61 was launched?
