The plastic isn't a problem. It's actually flippin sturdy. You could probably hit it with a 5lb hammer and it wouldn't leave a mark. When I was cleaning my fuel system I had a new filter that was only on for a few test drives around the neighbourhood and then replaced it again. So I cut it open out of curiosity. It's a GUD. So here's a photo of the filter with maybe 6km-10km on it.

Does anyone got the correct part number for the tb42 ignition points?
I got this if the internet: BOSCH IGNITION POINTS GH203
But midas says this part is not on their system.
And how do you know if they must be replaced or just adjusted?
(Is there a thread somewhere on this?)

I have it written in my workshop manual but that's in the car and I am not going out there now.
However, it is the same as the Nissan 1400's. I seem to recall Echlin EC351 but not sure.
To decide whether to replace, open thd points as far as you can and look at the contact surfaces. If they look reasonably flat and smooth, they can just be adjusted. If they look like the surface of the moon, it's time to replace.
However, do yourself a favor and just get electronic ignition from Offshore Marine Services in cape town.

However, on my car there was no condensor. The manual mentions one but I could never find what it should be or where it should mount.
The function of the condensor is to lessen the arcing across the point, extending their life.
The result was that on my car I had to lean and re-adjust the points every 5k km, and replace them at every 10k service. A huge ballache especially because the distributor is quite complicated (in order to make it reasonably waterproof).

Looks like an ignition ballast resister. Can't advise more though, the last time I fiddled with them was back in the day on a Ford Cortina

Yes, that is the ballast resistor.
Some coils need it, others (aftermarket) don't. A coil that needs it won't last very long if the resistor is by-passed.
Check the resistance of the coil, and compare it to the value in the manual. If it is according to manual spec, make sure the resistor is connected.
