Hello Jan

I put 33"x12.5"x15" on the standard rims, and I also have OME suspension, but they are actually too big. I had two problems, firstly the rear wheels rub on the inside of the body in a cross-axle, and secondly they foul the front mudguards. I then also discovered that three of the five rims were cracked (where the web is welded in) and thus lost tire pressure. I replaced the rims with alloys with a slightly wider offset which solved the tires rubbing at the rear, and made different front mud flaps.

Regards, and welcome to the forum.
Peter

Tk's Guys.....the leaking rims were a factory flaw and were replaced for free if you
complained. For now I prefer to stay witn 15" rims given the added flotation. I am doing the "Saddle Hill" trip ( which includes some serious dunes) soon.
My Patrol looks same as Peter's but is fitted with an aluminium TJM bullbar ,Super oscar Cibies, Ramsey 9000 winch extra 60 L tank and a van der Linde conversion. I've bougt it second hand in '97 ( 17 000km) and it currently stands on 155 000 km. It has towed a 17' cat over Mozambican dunes numerous times ......Cheers ......Jan-vis

Jan I had one of those rims split about 200mm long and 15mm wide, resulting in a blow-out type sudden decompression at 120km/h on the freeway about three months after I bought the car (a previous owner had fitted tubes which masked the problem). I then carefully checked all the remaining rims with LPE and they were fine. Six months later two of them wer cracked and leaking. Wouldn't want that rubbish again, even for free.

Thanks for the feedback though.
Peter

goeie dag
welkom by die forum
ek ry bf a/t op al my voertuie en is baie gelukkig met hulle .
die sidewall is lekker dik en na 7 stelle tussen bakkies en my trol kry ek n ave van 150 000 km op n stel
ek roteer hulle so elke 5000km
n ander voordeel is as ek 0.5 bar op regte sand ry kry die sidewalls nie sommer seer nie! :mytwocents:
