The OM606 is a great engine, but not my first choice for rock crawling.
In that regard I still think the TB48 is the most versatile for Patrol applications

I have driven that hill before.
It very much depends on the conditions of the day how hard it is. It seems like it was dry and dusty for you, which made it slippery.
