Re: Recovery debate

Peter, Thank you for the very relevant topic. As a contractor that operates frequently in inhospitable areas where no roads exist , I have been in a couple of pickles during the past 40 years. There is a big difference between a 4x4 outing with many clever experts and all the gear you could wish for...

Re: Goodyear Duratrec Tyres

Yes , I have 2 vehicles fitted with them. I get very good life and the grip on rock and in wet conditions is very good. They balance easy and road noise is low. Also a good compromise between mud and all terrain. Ironically I had a sidewall burst from rock damage on the way to Moegatle this weekend....

Lyk my dit sal beter wees vir "world peace" as almal op een plak kamp en die wat wil bo slaap sal rooftop tente bring.

Re: Year end - Rust de Winter 29 November - 1 Dec 2019

Ek sal graag op die berg wil gaan slaap. Al moet ek nou die brannewyngemmerkoekies alleen eet.

Alex sal seker ook daar wil kamp. (As hy sy "reliability downgrade" betyds klaar kry.)

Re: 4.2Petrol Auto Gearbox

The TB42 was maltreated by a previous owner and had some inherent problems like a head that was skimmed close to limit and a knock that I could not find. Also broke a valve causing a lot of grief. The TB45 I bought was virtually brand new and most of the transplant was bolt on. The ecu was not compa...

Re: 4.2Petrol Auto Gearbox

I own a Gq import with original auto box. The original TB42e was replaced with a TB45e. The car is approaching 600k km and the auto box has been at the repair shop twice. The first time it was age and mileage that caused seal failure ect and that complete overhaul cost R17000.00. Second time it was ...

Re: Lets talk radiators

Yes , the copper radiator in my GQ was very well used. I took the whole car to Universal and they took measurements , but did not look happy. After paying the deposit and waiting 6 weeks I then removed the old radiator and they used it to make exact drawings. I had a tough time convincing them to in...

Re: Drop in RPM GQ petrol

Jules, If possible , get out and look at the exhaust fumes when it misbehaves. Blackish smoke will tell you that it is getting too much fuel at idle. Float level eratic. Another possibility is a small amount of water in the fuel. It will sit in the bottom of the float chamber and form a small drople...
