No not the 4.2, unless the turbo and fueling is horribly miss-matched. The 3.0 is the one that has the "grenade" stigma attached, but again, correctly maintained 3.0 can also go for many many miles.

Kingpin bearings are also a factor, and are easy to change. There are shims that take up the extra play on the bearings. These can be removed, but make sure the pretension is then not too stiff. I may be wrong here, but the rear sway bar links don't have ball joints, they should all be rubber bushes. These are easily replaced ( well labour wise probably not, as they are pressed into the ends of the sway bar), but don't use the poly-something ones, as they deteriorate quickly with the amount...

Don't know that winch, most guys here have either a TJM or Warn, but Due to the weight of the Patrols, one needs a beefy winch. I have a 12 000lb Warn, that I've only used to recover other people, but its nice to know its there incase one day it is needed.
