Re: 1998 Y61 TD42 - Replacement Front Left Hub and Knuckle Spindle

Perhaps also give Tinus a call. At ons stage he had several front axles with bent tubes, perhaps one is irreperable and can be stripped for spares. Zero83 297 8zero13 There is one (bent) at Mr Forgey as we speak, which happens to belong to Mr Turbonator. Call Anthony at: oh, seven, nine, 499, seven...

Re: CRD Fuel consumption

This makes me think a 4.8 might be the better option if comparing to a Crd. Taking into acount the power, reliability, and the price difrence between the Crd and a 4.8. As of late should a Crd come into the market it also has huge price tag. To me it seems people put a huge price tag on consumption...

Re: CRD Fuel consumption

Hi Rahul I do not have a CRD and once had a Di. The Di gave me around 8km/l with roof rack, but averaging around 100km/h. Currently I have a GQ with 4.8 Spitronix conversion and manual box (and 4.375 ratios), fully kitted similar to your 4.8 and at 100km/h I average 6km/l. If I push is harder, it do...

Re: Why Manual Hub

- Manual hub allows you to go 2x4 in low range. I.e. without the front wheels being driven. It is a slight advantage in slow traffic on tarmac, saves the clutch a bit if you move very slowly. With auto locking hubs you cannot do this unless you are on dirt roads, since then you can damage the drive ...

Re: Y62 Portal Axles

Portals is just something that I would love to have, but it doesnt make financial sense to me at the moment . Nice to have, but I think our vehicles with big lifts will have to do for now... Till I win the Lotto :rolling: I don't think portal axles ever made financial sense, to anyone, ever! :rolli...

Re: Retirement bakkie

It says that it is a TD42 turbo. If it is a factory turbo, those TD42s have the more effective oil cooling. Not sure how it works but runs much cooler than after market turbos. I had a factory turbo Td42 with top mount intercooler in a Series 4 station wagon and it never got hot. In fact the max wat...
