Re: CRD Fuel consumption

This makes me think a 4.8 might be the better option if comparing to a Crd. Taking into acount the power, reliability, and the price difrence between the Crd and a 4.8. As of late should a Crd come into the market it also has huge price tag. To me it seems people put a huge price tag on consumption...

Re: CRD Fuel consumption

Hi Rahul I do not have a CRD and once had a Di. The Di gave me around 8km/l with roof rack, but averaging around 100km/h. Currently I have a GQ with 4.8 Spitronix conversion and manual box (and 4.375 ratios), fully kitted similar to your 4.8 and at 100km/h I average 6km/l. If I push is harder, it do...

Re: 83 Safari no fire

So, is it all sorted now?
Maybe a bad connection somewhere that got a bump?

Re: New 76 series

Interresting topic. A couple of months ago I would have reacted differently........ I love the DC land Cruiser V8, lovely 4X4 :blonde: I am however not convinced that the 2.8 will be as good as the older V8s, but that is just me. Would I trade my two Patrols for it, NO!!! Would I get a DC Cruiser, ...

Re: New 76 series

Off topic but regarding that 1m km limit. I know the new Chery range offers this. No-one will ever drive a modern Chinese vehicle to that point, and maintain the service history which I am sure is a condition to the warranty. It will be flogged at 250k max. Modern cars are treated as disposable. And...

Re: New 76 series

I don't know what happens under 1200rpm, but at that RPM it has a hell of a lot of torque! Probably 3 times as much as my TD42. But most of my wheeling is done at 6-800rpm, and it's quite possible that the Toy's turbo is also not working yet at that RPM. In terms of durability, temperature is the k...

Re: New 76 series

Toyota don't "squeeze the max out of" anything. Yes, granted, but "squeezing the max" is a relative term. What I mean by it, is that a chip can doom it, whereas it may do nothing on an otherwise overdesigned engine. It is squeezed out to the max within their safety parameters. I...

Re: New 76 series

Correct on the Chip part. As for 500ppm sulpher you really need to research and read a little more on that. It does not do damage to any engine directly, BUT you will have to revert back to much shorter service intervals as the oil will build up sulpher which over time is damaging. If you ringfence...
