Re: Forum 10 year birthday - Gauteng 27 April 2019

Is there still a spot open for me? I've forgotten how to operate that short stick next to the gear lever

PS: Just for the day, and I understand I will have to carry my own costs. We'll be two adults and a kid...

Re: Led Hoof ligte

Hypothetically speaking now... Does the car body play a role in the quality of radio frequency reception. In other words the teeth that bite into the body, does that form part of the "circuit" to get the best radio reception. Yes, that creates the ground plane for the monopole antenna. The wire goi...

Re: Led Hoof ligte

Yeah it only seems the the interference noise happens when on a radio station, on CD's its perfect, on BT Audio its perfect, on "telephone" it's perfect, so just on FM and AM channels. Sounds like your antenna, then... Ok, I assume I need to strip off the plastic splash guard in the wheel well out,...

Re: Vehicle mobile comms, what do you use?

Oelie, as a radio ham you should know that UHF is for talking to planes and 29 MHz is only for people who miss their CB radios! :rolling:

PS: A handheld VHF radio costs the same as a Bosvark, and the annual license fees are negligible via 4x4 Community Forum or ORRA...

My guess is that the earth for the headlights is not up to scratch. The radio/amp did not complain before, so that suggests that th...

Re: Seat Covers

My only gripe with the Taklas in my vehicle is that they are not absorbent enough - your back gets slightly sweaty on long trips.

But I suppose low absorbence = low soiling?

Re: Me and bad habits!

Peter, at least a 4.2 conversion means ripping out most of the electric bits, so no worries about ECU, dizzy, plugs, etc. any more! It seems that the adding of additional electrical bits tend to make many other engine changes a challenge. Will Michael be using the standard pistons instead of upping ...

Re: Mad Man Coolant Level Detector Install

Ian, what Tinus said! As far as I understand, the level of the overflow tank depends on pressure generated by expansion of coolant in a sealed cooling system. Once a pipe bursts, the system is not sealed any more and can not create the pressure/vacuum required to change the level in the overflow tan...

Re: Haynes Repair Manual

I also have the Haynes version - it's always nice to compare notes between that and the Nissan ESM (electronic service manual)
