Re: Duram 88 on mag wheels, yes or no
Simple question. Opinions yes or no for Duram 88 on mag wheels I've actually left it a bit late because I'm about to start the job when my coffee is finished but I had a last minute burst of bangheid. I've used 88 on lots of stuff but never on wheels. I've always used Hammerite on wheels...

Re: Wheel Bearings Y61
www.onlineautoparts.com.au I've bought wheel bearing kits and kingpin shims etc from them.
Enter your VIN number and they will list everything that they stock for your car, both OEM and after-market.

Re: Diff-Lock Vacuum Solenoid Issues
Excellent. It works! I had been looking for a microscopic spring to fit in that recessed section, but the BIC spring is the size of the piston OD and looks like it will work even better than OEM. I didn't think of trying a larger spring the size of the piston and sleeve. Thanks a million for the tip...

Re: Diff-Lock Vacuum Solenoid Issues
There are tiny springs inside the solenoid. One of mine was scrap rusty pieces when I opened them up. And the parts lay on a counter top while I searched for a replacement spring over the following weeks, and in the interim the other spring also went missing.

Re: Cost of ownership
Two things from my point of view.
On any Patrol, use OEM or OEM spec coolant only
On 4.8 GRX, use OEM or OEM spec transmission fluid only
Quite an expense for those, and a mission to find generic equivalents to save a buck, but that's just how it is. Everything else though is much of a muchness

Re: The costs of having a Petrol vs Diesel
That's very true. But locals are up to speed on local fuel deliveries etc and keep cans of juice for personal use with their bikes. You don't want to pitch up a filling station and the bowser is only coming to fill up next week. Speaking largely about northern Moz now, where my most common fuel hass...

Howzit. Already met via whatsapp
The diff-lock solenoids get rusty inside, usually just the bottom one, and the piston sticks. First thing to check.- Diagnose and fix rear diff lock

Re: The costs of having a Petrol vs Diesel
Spike, do you think diesel is better up north due to availability of diesel or consumption? For me yes. Where ever truck traffic goes you're guaranteed to get diesel. It might well be different for somebody who sticks mostly to busy routes that have regular tourist and local traffic. I can go for w...

Re: The costs of having a Petrol vs Diesel
I can understand the diesel vs petrol A vs B cost comparison for the average guy in a mix of city and leisure driving, but horses for courses. Type of use and availability of fuel are a big factor, for both cost and functionality. You need a petrol trok in your fleet if you want to drive dunes (Cape...
